Google Introduces an iPhone Rival Open to Whims

SAN FRANCISCO — Google and T-Mobile unveiled their answer to the iPhone on Tuesday, pulling the wraps off a slick mobile device that combines a touch screen and a keyboard and is aimed at putting the Internet in the pockets of millions of cellphone users.



The T-Mobile G1 will cost $179, $20 less than the iPhone.

The Google founders Larry Page, left, and Sergey Brin introduced the G1 on Tuesday in New York. The G1, Google’s smartphone joint venture with T-Mobile, will have an applications store.

The T-Mobile G1, which will be available in the United States on Oct. 22, is the first mobile phone to be powered by Google’s Android operating system. It represents a milestone in Google’s efforts to extend its dominance of the PC-based Internet to mobile phones and further loosen the control that wireless carriers have over what consumers can do with their phones.

Analysts said that the G1 did not represent the kind of revolutionary change in design and function that Apple introduced last year with the iPhone. But the G1 is likely to further accelerate two trends that will have a lasting impact on the wireless industry: the growing use of the Internet on the go, and the ability of consumers to customize their phones with their favorite functions.

Cisco buys open source messaging firm Jabber

Hi,
           Folks, Hopefully many of the coraporate folks know what JABBER is? It is chat tool, that the people use in IT for having chat within your LAB and may be your network for safe chat. Now, the news is CISCO is buying Jabber, the lead commercial vendor behind the popular open source XMPP (aka Jabber) protocol. Jabber is used by millions worldwide and XMPP is the basis of Google's Chat as well.A Financial terms of the deal have not yet been publicly disclosed.

    "Enterprise organizations want an extensible presence and messaging platform that can integrate with business process applications and easily adapt to their changing needs," said Doug Dennerline, Cisco senior vice president, Collaboration Software Group in a statement. "With the acquisition of Jabber, we will be able to extend the reach of our current instant messaging service and expand the capabilities of our collaboration platform. Apple's Safari faster with SquirrelFish Extreme VS google Chrome

           Folks, the lab is happy to share information about GOOGLE again this time we are going take its browser and compare it with Apple safari. Google Chrome who??? Apple is upping the ante in the race for the fastest JavaScript engine with its new SquirrelFish Extreme engine. The new engine according to specs published by Apple WebKit developers show at least 2x faster than SquirrelFish (which already was lighting fast). Google's Dream Phone Out

Hi,
           Folks, the lab is happy to share information about the other big gaint GOOGLE Phones. If you ever feared the Google phone (also known as HTC Dream, HTC G1 and so on) doesn't exist, fear no more: the Android-powered weird-shaped device has recently appeared in a mini-set of live images, caressed by sun and a pair of mysterious hands.

So, following Rene Descartes' “I think, therefore I am” reasoning, the G-phone can easily say “I appear in photos, therefore I am”. Makes sense, right? Its existence, I mean. And it makes even more sense knowing that, just a few days ago, the Android handset was (sort of) confirmed to be hitting T-Mobile USA, presumably on September 23. Also presumably, the handset will be sold for as little as 199 bucks, together with a contract agreement for two years (just like AT&T is selling Apple's 8GB iPhone). Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Now on BlackBerries

           Folks, the lab is happy to share information about Microsoft 2007 server.  The Canadian smartphone manufacturer Research In Motion announced that, as of now, its BlackBerry Enterprise Solution is compatible with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, allowing corporate users to enjoy an improved instant messaging mobile experience.

The 2007 edition of Microsoft's solution comes with all the features that exist in the 2005 version, plus a brand new BlackBerry IM client. This is capable of providing a firmer integration with other BlackBerry applications (like the browser, calendar, address book and so on).. Google's Chrome Ups the Ante

Browser wars? On steroids. When Google (GOOG)
announced on Sept. 1 that it was releasing its own Web browser, Chrome,
the immediate buzz was that the bruising battles over browser
domination, played out between Netscape and Microsoft (MSFT) in the late 1990s, were back on.

Google, though, has much bigger ambitions. The goal, say Google execs,
is not merely to win share of an existing market, but to change the
very nature of Internet browsing—and the way we use computers. If
Chrome works as planned, it will lead much of computing from the
desktop—Microsoft's domain—toward remote data centers. These, in
Google's lingo, are known as the "cloud." Google runs the biggest and
most efficient data centers on earth, and moving much of the world's
computing from desktops into its clouds is the heart of the company's
strategy. "Google really believes the future of the Web is running
applications on the Web," says Danny Sullivan, who runs Calafia
Consulting, a Web consulting firm. "They want to be leading the
charge."

As this battle commences, Microsoft enjoys a towering head start.
Its Internet Explorer dominates the browser market, with 75% share. And
Microsoft is launching its latest upgrade, IE8, which is loaded with
new features. Google's Chrome, by contrast, appears bare-bones. Its
power, say Google engineers, will come from its ability to run
applications faster and more securely, especially those hosted outside
the PC, on the cloud. Unlike Google's top-secret search algorithms or
the proprietary software it uses to carry out its searches, Chrome was
born as an open-source system.

Asking More of Browsers

To understand what's new, think of Netscape, the browsing sensation
14 years ago at the dawn of the World Wide Web. The goal back then was
simply to open and read Web pages. This is still important, of course,
whether Web surfers are reading a story in The New York Times or checking out a friend's home page on MySpace. Most browsers today, including Mozilla Firefox and Apple's (AAPL) Safari, have grown to provide that Web browsing service.

Google, though, wants people to use browsers to do much more,
particularly to run software applications, like word processing,
spreadsheets, video editing, and conferencing. In Google's scheme, the
browser is a gateway into the clouds, one that will eventually be
tapped from anywhere—a PC, a mobile phone, perhaps even a television.
And many of the applications available in the clouds, from calendars to
e-mail, will likely compete directly with Microsoft's dominant suite of
Office applications, including Excel and Outlook. Says Google
co-founder Sergey Brin:
"What we have is a lightweight engine for running Web applications that
doesn't have the baggage of an operating system." Investors on Sept. 2
